How to Bet on AFL NZ

Betting on the AFL NZ requires knowledge of the three fundamental factors, the rules of Australian football, the team and player stats and different types of bets you can place on Aussie rules football. Why is knowing these things important for success in betting? For example, knowing that an Aussie rules game is divided into four 20-minute sessions can help you in deciding what type of bet to place. Likely halftime bets for the different quarters of the game will be less risky and yield better results overall.

Knowing player stats can help you wager better for goal casts and prop bets. Just because a team has won does not necessarily mean they are better at scoring. Sometimes the other team is just bad at defending.

Understanding the difference between bet types means you are best able to analyse what bet best fits the scenario. For example, if you are betting on a game between the Southern Saints and Western Crows. Western Crows has 4 players in the top 10 goal scorers while Southern Saints has only one. In this case it might be wiser to bet on Western Crows getting the first or most goals.

Australian Rules Football – The Rules

In any standard Australian football game, there are 36 players and seven umpires on the pitch. This sounds like a big crowd but considering the Aussie rules pitch size which ranges from 135m to 185m in length and 110m t0 155m in width. The game happens over the course four quarters of 20 minutes each. The goal is to score as many goals as possible.

There are four goal poles at each goal post the two in the centre are the main goal areas and the spaces between the outer goal post and centre goal posts are the secondary goal posts. If the ball is kicked through the centre goal post it earns the attacking team 6 points. A goal through the secondary goal posts earns one point. Carrying the ball over the score line is also a single point.

New Zealand AFL Team and Player Stats
